EXCLUSIVE: Met Police officer resigns after claims he took drugs, accessed crime reports and failed

A MET Police officer has resigned after facing allegations he took drugs, accessed crime reports for no good reason and failed to declare links to someone of interest to the force.

PC Foysol Hussain is facing a misconduct hearing which starts tomorrow amid claims his actions amounted to gross misconduct.

It is alleged that on February 18 2019 PC he was required to take a drugs test which was positive for cannabis. A Met Police spokesman said: "It is alleged that PC Hussain also accessed crime reports with no lawful or justifiable reason for doing so.

"It is alleged that PC Hussain had connections with a person which should have been declared and which he did not declare in breach of MPS policy. "It is alleged that Police Constable Hussain has breached the standards of professional behaviour in relation to discreditable conduct, fitness for duty, confidentiality and duties and responsibilities.

"Further, this conduct is alleged to amount to gross misconduct.

"PC Hussain has tendered his resignation from the MPS and his last day of service is due to be 12 April 2020."

The hearing is being held in private and remotely by telephone due to coronavirus lockdown restrictions.

The outcome will be published.
