Two men dead after four people stabbed - two others in hospital including one detained in connection with incident

TWO men have died after four people were stabbed at a business premises in south London.

A double murder probe has been launched following the deaths of the two men in Southwark.

Met Police officers were called at 1pm on Monday, July 28, to reports that multiple people had been assaulted at a business premises in Long Lane, SE1.

Police and the London Ambulance Service attended the scene and treated four people for stab wounds.

Despite the best effort of paramedics a 58-year-old-man died at the scene. Three other men were taken to hospital where a 27-year-old man has also since died.

A man in his thirties remains in hospital and his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

Another man in his thirties who has been detained in connection with the incident remains in a life-threatening condition in hospital.

A crime scene remains in place and officers continue to investigate the circumstances.

Detective Chief Superintendent Emma Bond, who leads policing for the area, said: “Our investigation is in the early stages and we are working hard to understand the full circumstances of this shocking incident.

“At this point, we do not believe it to be terrorism-related and there is no further risk to the public.

“There will be a heavy police presence in the area throughout today and I would encourage anyone with information to speak with officers or contact the Met by other means.”
