Rory Wilson appears in court charged with murder of security guard Gary Stanley at Milton Keynes shopping centre

A MAN has been brought before a court charged with the murder of security guard Gary Stanley, 52, at Centre: MK shopping centre in Milton Keynes on Saturday.

Emergency services were alerted to reports of a stabbing at the busy centre at around 5:10pm on Saturday, February 28.

Mr Stanley (above) was pronounced dead at the scene.

Rory Wilson, 50, of Towcester, Northamptonshire, appeared at Milton Keynes Magistrates' Court on Monday. He faces charges of murder and possessing a bladed article in a public place.

Wilson did not submit any pleas during the hearing and was remanded in custody. He is due to appear next at Aylesbury Crown Court on Wednesday.

The shopping centre was closed in the immediate aftermath of the incident but reopened to shoppers on Monday.

In a statement, a spokesperson for the centre said the victim had been a “dedicated and valued colleague” who was widely known and respected within the community.

“They were also devoted to their family and our deepest condolences are with them at this incredibly difficult time,” the statement added.

Dressed in a grey tracksuit, Wilson spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth and address during the brief court appearance. Members of Mr Stanley’s family were present in the public gallery.
