Romanian national charged with murder of 87-year-old man

A ROMANIAN man has been charge with the murder of an 87-year-old found dead at a property in the early hours of Sunday.
Met police detectives have launched a murder investigation following the death of the man in Lewisham.
Police were called at about 1am on Sunday, 24 August 2025, to an address in Wellmeadow Road, Lewisham, alongside the London Ambulance Service, following reports of a death at the property.
An 87-year-old man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. His next-of-kin have been informed and are being supported by specially-trained officers.
A post-mortem examination held on Monday, 25 August gave the cause of death as compression of the neck.
Vasile Iosebica, 47, of Wellmeadow Road, Lewisham, was arrested on suspicion of murder and was subsequently charged on Tuesday, 26 August.
He will appear at Bromley Magistrates’ Court today (Tuesday, 26 August.)
The victim and Losebica were known to each other.
