Romanian man living in Newcastle was fugitive wanted over human trafficking and sex exploitation
A ROMANIAN man living in Newcastle was a convicted sex trafficker it has emerged.
Dumitru Nedelciu, 40, was living in Gainsborough Grove in the city when he was arrested on a European Arrest Warrant from Romania in May.
At a hearing at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Monday, August 1, he consented to be extradited back home to serve a sentence for human trafficking and sexual exploitation.
The court heard that he lied to police and fled the country before he could be jailed and lived as a fugitive in the UK.
He was remanded into custody ahead of extradition on a date to be set.
Meanwhile, another Romanian national has consented to extradition to Germany.
Ovidiu Nicolae Lupascu, 41, of an unknown address was arrested by the Met Police on a European Arrest Warrant in May.
He initially fought extradition in connection with drug importation charges, but at a hearing at Westminster Magistrates' Court on July 27 he agreed to extradition and was remanded in custody until a date is set for his removal.
