POLICE and ambulance crews attended the area outside McDonald's in Leicester Square this morning after an injured man was found lying on the ground nearby.

Police cordoned off an area in front of the fast food chain branch and neighbouring Lego store from about 7am today (October 18 2026) to investigate what is understood to be a suspected assault.

The London Ambulance Service (LAS) also attended and the man is believed to have been taken to a hospital for treatment.

A police cordon remained in place until just after 9am.

It is understood the injured man, aged 28, was involved in a fracas with five other people outside the same branch two days earlier.

However, police closed the investigation this morning after the injured man did not wish to cooperate with the investigation.

The Met Police refused to comment on the incident as a result.

A LAS spokesperson also would not comment until Monday at the earliest, saying it will only give statements on serious or critical incidents over the weekend.

Police and the ambulance service have been contacted for comment.

It comes four days after emergency services were called to the square just after 9pm on Wednesday after a man in his 40s was found with a serious head injury and was rushed to hospital.

Police officers were at the scene the following morning with a large cordon in place.
