A THREE-part Sky documentary looking at the unsolved murder of John "Goldfinger" Palmer more than ten years ago is available to watch from today.

he Essex Murders: Who Killed Goldfinger? is available on Sky Documentaries from Saturday, October 4 2025.

Episode one looks at how Palmer (above) got his nickname Goldfinger by smelting gold from the infamous 1987 Brink's-Mat robbery that has left a trail of death in its wake.

The second focuses on Palmer's time on Tenerife, running a massive timeshare fraud that made him one of Britain's richest ever organised criminals.

The third episode delves into theories on who may have ordered the hit that saw Palmer stalked and gunned down as he burnt papers in the garden of his South Weald home on June 24 2015.

The series, led by ex-Met Police DCI Dave McKelvey (above) who headed a similar series on the Essex Boys Rettendon murders in 2023, features a rare brief appearance by Palmer's former head of security, Mohamed Jamil Derbah, 61, who is still a big presence on the island.

It does not break ground in terms of any new theories, but covers those previously established including from Derbah's ex accountant Paul Blanchard, and the Imre Arakas theory.

You can read more about the case here.
