NCA Illegal immigration arrests after raid on car wash

Officers swamped a car wash in Nottingham as part of a National Crime Agency (NCA) probe into illegal immigration.

Two people were also arrested in Derby as part of the investigation which also saw the search of a property in the St Ann’s area of Nottingham.

A 43-year-old man was detained on suspicion of knowingly employing illegal workers at a property in the Sinfin area of Derby this morning (15 July 2025).

A 43-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of money laundering at the same address, following the seizure of a quantity of cash.

Both are now being questioned by NCA investigators.

The arrests followed a multi-Agency visit to the same car wash, involving Nottinghamshire Police, East Midlands Special Operations Unit and Immigration Enforcement officers, last month, which led to one man being detained by for immigration offences.

NCA Regional Head of Investigations, Jacque Beer, said: “Today’s arrests are part of an ongoing NCA investigation which will continue with evidence we have seized today.

“Tackling organised immigration crime is a priority for the NCA, and we are doing all we can to target and disrupt the networks involved.”
