Mother Zahira Byjaouane charged with murder of 18-day-old baby daughter who fell to death from property in Westminster appears in court

A MOTHER who was charged with the murder of her baby who fell to her death from a property in Westminster has today, March 16 2026, appeared in court.
Zahira Byjaouane, 43 (26.05.82), of Horseferry Road, Westminster, was charged yesterday following the death of the 18-day-old.
She appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court, but was not asked to enter a plea, because the case was transferered to a hearing at the Old Bailey on Wednesday.
She spoke only to confirm her name, date of birth and address during the brief hearing.
Judge John Zani said: “This case has to be dealt with at the higher court and you will be appearing at the Central Criminal Court in two days’ time on March 18.

“It is in custody by reason of the nature of the allegations and bail does not apply in this court.”
At around 7:30am on Saturday, 14 March 2026, Met Police officers attended Horseferry Road following reports that a baby had fallen from a height from a residential property.
The baby was taken to hospital, where she sadly died.
Byjaouane was charged with murder today, Sunday, 15 March.
Detectives from the Met's Specialist Crime Command continue to lead the investigation.
