MICK NORCROSS INQUEST: Former TOWIE star found hanged at home, inquest hears


FORMER The Only Way Is Essex star Mick Norcross was found hanged at his home, an inquest heard today.

Mr Norcorss, Dad of Kirk Norcross, who also appeared in the ITV show, was found dead at his home in Bulphan, Essex, aged 57, on Thursday January 21.

Today, the inquest into the death of the former Sugar Hut nightclub in Brentwood was opened at Chelmsford Coroners' Court.

Sarah Lee Assistant Coroners' officer said paramedics and police attended and the death was not being treated as suspicious.

A post mortem examination at Basildon Hospital on January 26 found the cause of death was treated as 1a suspension by ligature.

The results of toxicology tests are awaited.

Assistant coroner Tina Harrington said: "We are still awaiting for toxicology and the post mortem report and I understand mobile phone and Ipad downloads are being looked at by police. A detailed letter by family member has been provided."

Mr Norcross first appeared in the reality show in 2011, but left two years later, stating that the venue's prominent place in Towie had damaged its brand.

The star posted a tweet to his 505,000 followers on the morning of his death saying: "At the end remind yourself that you did the best you could. And that's good enough."

The businessman borrowed more than £3.5 million to buy TOWIE haunt the Sugar Hut in 2008.

He sold the club in 2019.

It has emerged that his property companies owe a combined around £8.5million to creditors.

The inquest was adjourned until July.
