Met Police officer charged with misconduct in public officer over 'inappropriate relationship with vulnerable woman he met in neighbour dispute'

A serving Met officer has been charged with misconduct in public office in connection with a "vulnerable woman" he met while dealing with a neighbour dispute.
Neighbourhood PC Peter Woodfine, 48, from Leyton, who is attached to the force's South Area Command Unit, is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, 20 August 2025.
He is charged with one count of misconduct in public office. He was charged on Friday, 18 July.
The charge relates to a series of incidents between June 2023 and September 2023 where it is alleged that PC Woodfine engaged in an inappropriate personal relationship with a the woman while acting in his capacity as a police officer.
The alleged offence took place when he was on duty.
The charge reads: "Peter Woodfine, between 01 June 2023 and 30 September 2023, while acting
as a (Metropolitan Police Officer), wilfully misconducted himself namely, by engaging in an inappropriate
personal relationship with a vulnerable female who he had met whilst acting in his capacity as a Safer neighbourhood officer (who) attended her home to resolve disputes the female was having with her neighbours."
The Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards have been informed.
He is currently suspended from duties.
