MAN HUNT: Police hunt for suspect after woman is stabbed in the hand in a home


POLICE are hunting a man after a woman was stabbed in the hand at an address in east London.

A Met Police spokeswoman said: "Police were called at 7:51pm on Saturday, 11 November to reports of an assault in Middleton Gardens, Gants Hill.

"Officers attended along with paramedics from the London Ambulance Service.

"A woman was taken to hospital with a stab wound to her hand. Her condition was assessed as non-life threatening and she has been safeguarded by police.

"An investigation is under way to locate the suspect.

"There is not believed at this time to be a risk to the public."

The victim and suspect are understood to be known to each other.

Neighbours in the area said there was a lot of police search activity around nearby Valentines Park last night and into today.

A man said: "There were about four police cars and a dog search unit there last night at about 9pm and a helicopter. the helicopter was back over the park about 5am and it was up again at about 12:50pm today (Sunday). My neighbour said the park had been closed off by police some of the time."

The police spokeswoman confirmed the stabbing and search activity were connected.
