Police appeal for information after woman and boy injured - one seriously - after collision with van in Maldon

POLICE are appealing for information about a road collision in which a woman and a child were injured in Maldon High Street as revellers hit the town for the last Friday before Christmas.

Officers were seen in a sealed off area near All Saints Church at about 10pm on December 19 2025.

The High Street was closed between Market Hill and Coach Lane while an investigation was underway.

According to comments on a post on a local Facebook group paramedics had also been in attendance earlier in the evening after a woman and child were injured after being struck by a van.

Essex Police has confirmed that a woman and a boy were injured with the adult the most seriously hurt.

It was a busy night in the town as it gears up for Christmas and people continued to enjoy their evening with some groups stopping to watch what was happening.

An Essex Police spokesman said: "We were called to reports of a collision in Maldon High Street shortly before 7.30pm on Friday 19 December.

It was reported a van had been in collision with two pedestrians.

The pedestrians both sustained injuries with one seriously injured.

An East of England Ambulance Trust spokesperson said: "We were called just before 7.30pm on Friday 19 December to reports of a collision between a van and two pedestrians on the High Street in Maldon. Two ambulances, an ambulance officer vehicle, the Hazardous Area Response Team and the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance were sent to the scene. An adult woman and a child were transported to The Royal London Hospital for further treatment.”
