Herbal remedy shop 'selling weed over the counter' shut down and 3 arrests after cannabis seized

EXCLUSIVE: A HERBAL remedies shop has been closed down with three people arrested after it was allegedly openly selling cannabis over the counter.

Police raided the Spiritual Healing store in Montague House, Green Lane, Goodmayes, east London, and found large amounts of marijuana and cash.

A source from the area said: "It was one of those new age shops selling crystals and herbal remedies, but apparently not all the herbs were legal and it was common knowledge locally that you could buy it over the counter.

"It had been going on for a long time at the same building.

"But, this time, police did something and must have had it under surveillance."

According to police, three people were arrested during the raid on the premises on May 13 and police then used anti-social laws to shut down the shop for three months after obtaining a court order on July 13.

A Met Police spokeswoman said: "Police executed a drugs warrant at an address in Green Lane, Ilford.

"A large quantity of cannabis and cash was recovered from the address.

"Three men, one aged in his 50s, another aged in his 40s and one aged in his 30s were arrested at the scene on suspicion of possession with intent to supply drugs.

"They were taken into custody and have since been bailed until a future date."

Police applied to Barkingside Magistrates' Court to shut down the venue earlier this month.

The spokeswoman added: "A closure notice was served on the address under the anti-social crime and policing act 2014."

According to a public notice at the address (main image) the order was served upon the occupants of Spiritual Healing.
