GUN CITY: Two dead and third critical after shots fired overnight in Ilford, east London



TWO men have died and a third is fighting for his life after a fight in east London turned into a shootout.

The Met Police has launched a double murder probe after the violent scenes just after midnight in the early hours of this morning.

A Met Police spokesman said: "An investigation is ongoing after two males were fatally shot, and a third left critically injured, following an incident in Ilford."

Police were called by the London Ambulance Service at 12:16am this morning<Tuesday, 25 October> to Henley Road, Ilford, following reports of a fight in progress and shots fired.

The spokesman added: "Armed officers were among those responding. At the scene officers found three males with gunshot injuries.

"One of the victims, aged in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene. Another of the victims died a short time later.

"Police believe they know the identity of the victim in his 20s. Work to confirm the identity of the other man is ongoing. Officers are working to inform their next of kin."

The third victim, aged in his 30s, was taken to hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

The killer or killers are still at large as there have been no arrests and the force said enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing, with crime scenes and road closures are in place.
