GUN CITY: Police probe three gun incidents on same day, including Walthamstow murder, for any links
DETECTIVES are investigating three separate gun shot incidents that happened on Saturday (August 13) - including one that was fatal.
The first attack happened at 2.40am when a man in his 20s was stabbed and shots were fired in Bohemia Place, Hackney, north-east London.
He was taken to hospital; his condition is not life-threatening.
At 3:30am shots were fired at a residential address less than a mile away in Corsley Way, Hackney Wick.
Nobody was injured.
Detectives from the Met Police Specialist Crime team and the Central East Command Unit are investigating and are looking into possible links.
Detective Chief Inspector Robert Allen said: "I completely understand the considerable concern these two incidents will provoke, especially in light of a recent fatal shooting in a neighbouring borough.
"We are doing everything we can to understand whether there is any link. My officers are conducting a number of enquiries and further police resources have been deployed to the area to keep the public safe and provide reassurance.
"I believe the incident in Bohemia Place especially was witnessed by a number of people. Did you see anything suspicious around the time of these incidents? Do you have dash cam or doorbell footage that might help? If you have information that you think could help us with either incident, please do the right thing and make contact."
Detective Chief Inspector James Bray, Central East Command Unit, said: "Over the coming days local people will see an increased police presence within these areas. This is not to alarm anyone but to help keep you safe.
"We're providing every support to our colleagues in Specialist Crime as they investigate, but we need the public's help. If you have information that could help us track down and remove lethal firearms from our streets please approach officers and tell them what you know."

A murder investigation was later launched in Walthamstow, east London, after a 25-year-old man was fatally shot. Police were called shortly before 9.30pm the same day following reports of gunshots heard in Forest Rise.
Officers attended and were informed that an injured man had been been taken to hospital in a private vehicle. Despite the best efforts of medical staff the 25-year-old man died in hospital. A crime scene was established at the location. Homicide detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command are leading the investigation. At this early stage in the investigation there have been no arrests. Detective Chief Inspector Laurence Smith said: “This is a thoroughly senseless act that has led to the loss of a young man’s life. It is vital that we speak to anyone who witnessed what happened so we can give his family the answers they deserve. At this early stage in our investigation we believe this was a targeted attack, however we are keeping an open mind to all possibilities. “We understand that there was a party going on at a nearby community centre at the time of the shooting. It is possible that attendees may have seen what happened. We need you to speak to us. Whether you do so anonymously via Crimestoppers or you come to us directly- we need to know what you saw.” Chief Superintendent Simon Crick, in charge of policing in Waltham Forest and Newham said: “I am deeply saddened and appalled that another young man has lost his life on our streets. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims’ family at this time. “I am acutely aware of how concerning this incident will be for our local community. Last week more of your officers were deployed into key locations in Waltham Forest to provide high visibility re-assurance. This will continue this week. “We have also seen addition resources provided to us from our Violent Crime Task Force. Violence suppression continues daily in many ways across Waltham Forest. Your officers will be in the vicinity of this tragic incident today. I urge anyone who has any concerns or information to speak with them.” If you have any information that could help the investigation please call police on 101 and give reference 7405/14Aug. To remain anonymous, contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
Labour MP for Walthamstow Stella Creasy tweeted: "I have a sad duty to report another fatal shooting in our community at Forest Rise - details here. If you know anything about this incident please do come forward."
