EXCLUSIVE: Woodford School in 'lockdown' after emergency incident declared

A SCHOOL went into lockdown after a major police and emergency services incident.

According to a source staff locked the building and got children to hide under desks at the Hatton School and Special Needs Centre in Roding Lane South, Woodford, east London, after an emergency incident was declared.

Several police and ambulance vehicles were seen in the area along with a London Air Ambulance which was seen to land near Beal High School.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 1.58pm on Wednesday 18 March 2026 to reports of an incident in Southend Road, Woodford Green, E18.

“We sent resources including ambulance crews, a clinical team manager, an incident response officer and London’s air ambulance.

“We treated a man at the scene before taking him to a London major trauma centre.”

According to the Met Police it was a mental health incident and no crimes were recorded.
