EXCLUSIVE: Man wanted over sex attack in Moldova arrested in Ilford

A CONVICTED sex offender, wanted in Moldova to serve a sentence for a sex attack on a woman, has been arrested in the UK.

Maxim Vitalii Cosnicean, 36, of Wanstead Lane, Ilford, east London, was arrested on an international arrest warrant and brought before Westminster Magistrates' Court on October 10 2025.

The court heard he has a sentence to serve there in prison after he sexually assaulted a woman on July 12 2014.

He was refused bail after the court heard he has a lengthy sentence to serve, is a fugitive, and has three passports.

A second bail application was refused on October 14 and he was remanded into custody to return to the court in November.
