A TWISTED British paedophile who paid for indecent videos of a nine-year-old girl from her mother in the Philippines from his Thailand home has been prosecuted in the UK.
Richard Green, 49, from Rotherham today admitted paying for images and videos of the sexual abuse of the girl that were being sold to "customers" by her mother and making and possessing the material by storing it on a computer.
The National Crime Agency (NCA) began an investigation into Green after it was contacted by the US Homeland Security Department, which was investigating customers across the globe of the mother who was exploiting her own child for money.
Green was living in Thailand with his wife and her children prior to his initial arrest in the investigation.
Sheffield Crown Court heard that NCA investigators discovered 350 messages sent between Green and the mother plus evidence of ten phone calls and nine multi-media files being sent to him that contained indecent images.
In the messages he was requesting live webcam sessions to see the girl abused an indecent images of her and the woman provide them, the court heard.
Green pleaded guilty to one count of facilitating indecent images of children and three counts of making indecent images of children.
The NCA also discovered messages in which Green was requesting to have access to the girl for two weeks in the Philippines.
However, he denied a further count of traying to facilitate actual abuse of the girl by himself, as there was no evidence of any actual arrangements being made and he then fell out with and ceased contact with the woman.
Recorder of Sheffield Judge Jeremy Richardson KC said: "You have pleaded guilty to this serios offending. It is very unusual because it appears you were living in Thailand when at least some of this offending occurred."
He was warned he would face a significant prison term, with additional time if he fails to attend for sentence in November.
Green was also told to surrender his passport and placed under a travel ban preventing him from leaving England and Wales.
An NCA spokesperson said: "The offences he was charged with are designed to cover a UK national who travels abroad to commit CSA offences. So they can be used against a UK national anywhere in the world."
