BREAKING NEWS: Baby P's mother Tracey Connelly could be released after public parole hearing in October

Tracey Connelly (above), the mother of Baby P, will have her next bid for freedom heard in public, the Parole Board has confirmed.

The parole hearing has been set for October this year, more than 18 years after her son was tortured to death.

Connelly, 42, was returned to jail last September for breaching licence conditions.

She was originally given an indefinite sentence with a minimum term of five years in 2009 after covering up the horrific injuries inflicted on her 17-month-old son, Peter, by her sadistic lover Steven Barker.

Peter (below) died at home in Tottenham, north London, on 3 August 2007. Connelly pleaded guilty to causing or allowing the death of a child in 2008.

She was first released in 2013, but recalled to prison in 2015 after selling naked photographs of herself online to men.

She was released again in July 2022 before being recalled last year.

The Parole Board will hold certain high-profile hearings in public if an application is made by either side.

After the hearing she could be released, or more information requested, or she could be kept in prison.

Her lawyers argue that she poses no further danger to the public.

Barker, 49, was jailed in 2009 for a minimum of 12 years, while his brother Jason Owen received a six-year sentence for allowing Peter’s death.

Last October he was not released or moved to open prison after a parole hearing.

A Parole Board spokesperson said: "Tracey Connelly is scheduled for a public hearing in October."
