Attacker at large after two staff from The Moon Under Water Wetherspoon pub in Leicester Square sprayed with substance

AN ATTACKER is still at large after two staff members from Leicester Square's The Moon Under Water pub were sprayed with a substance this morning (April 20 2026).
A male suspect reportedly said: "I'm going to light you" before a substance was hurled at the two employees at about 4:50am.
A Met Police spokesperson said: "Police were called at around 5:00am on Monday, 20 April to a pub on Leicester Square, Westminster following reports of two members of staff being assaulted.
“It was reported that two men, both in their 20s, were sprayed with a substance by a man who then left the scene.
“Officers attended alongside the London Ambulance Service and the London Fire Brigade. One man was taken to hospital and the other treated at the scene. Neither sustained life‑threatening or life‑changing injuries.
"No arrests have been made and enquiries remain ongoing."
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called at 5.04am on 20 April to reports of an incident on Leicester Square, WC2.
“We sent an ambulance crew, a paramedic in a fast response car and an incident response officer to the scene.
“We treated a patient at the scene and took them to hospital.”
Two fire engines and a rapid response team attended the incident before the men were washed over with water.
The injuries sustained are not said to be major.
