Man remanded in custody after denying sharing terrorist material on Facebook

A MAN will face trial after denying the dissemination of terrorist material via Facebook.

Shehroz Iqbal, 28, (pictured above) of Kenwood Gardens, Gants Hill, near Ilford, east London, appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court yesterday, where he denied the offence.

It is alleged that on March 26 he "disseminated terrorist publications via Facebook, intending or being reckless, as to whether the effect would be a direct or indirect encouragement or other inducement to the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism."

He was remanded in custody ahead of a trial at the Old Bailey on a date to be set.

Iqbal was arrested by detectives from the Met's Counter Terrorism Command on Monday, April 6, on suspicion of dissemination of terrorist material, contrary to the Terrorism Act 2006.

A search of an address in east London was also carried out by police.
