SCENE: McKelvie arrived at the Port of Dover with no passport and three mobile phones (Doverport.co.uk)

A BRITISH man charged under terror laws after he was found by police at the Port of Dover with no passport has gone on the run.

Christopher McKelvie, 28, from London, refused to tell police how he lost his passport, countries he had been to, the reason for his travel and pass codes to three mobile phones he had when he was stuck in customs on January 10 2019.

He was charged with willfully failing to comply with a duty imposed under the Terrorism Act 2000.

But after being bailed in Folkestone the next day, McKelvie failed to show up for a magistrates court preliminary hearing.

He was found guilty in his absence, and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.

Detective Superintendent Tony Pledger of Kent Police said: "He failed to attend court but was found guilty of the offence at a hearing held in his absence.

"Enquiries are ongoing to locate Mr McKelvie, including liaising with partners and other police forces. Anyone who knows of his whereabouts is encouraged to call Kent Police on 01622 690690."

He will not be sentenced until he is found.

He's been arrested again in Glasgow, Scotland.

Hopefully they will keep him in prison this time.
