EXCLUSIVE: Occupants of car sought by police after fleeing from horror smash with lorry

SMASH: The occupants left the scene before police arrived

THE occupants of this car are being sought by police after they made off after it crashed on to its roof in the early hours of today.

The black Vauxhall ended up upside down by a road sign off the westbound carriageway of the A12 between Redbridge Roundabout and Wanstead, in east London.

WRECKED: The car was in collision with a lorry

It was in collision with a lorry at 3am this morning.

A Met Police spokesman said: "Police were called on Saturday, 24 November at around 3am to the A12, Wanstead to a car in collision with a lorry.

"The emergency services attended.

"The occupants of the car made off prior to police arrival.

DAMAGE: A garden fence appears to have been damaged in the smash

"No one was found injured at the location.

"There have been no arrests and enquiries are ongoing."

CLUE? A parking fine notice that appears to have fallen from vehicle

The airbags had been activated and today next to the crashed vehicle was a parking fine addressed to a resident of Chigwell, Essex, in connection with another vehicle that was alleged to have been involved in a parking breach in Southend last month.

The document appeared to have come from the vehicle and details have been passed to police.
