SEX OFFENDER: Abdul Moyna committed offence while on bail over his immigration status

A FAILED asylum seeker committed a serious sex attack while he was on bail after being caught working illegally, it has emerged.

Abdul Malik Moyna was found illegally working in a kitchen of a restaurant on January 11 2016.

The Bengali speaker came on a temporary visa, which expired in November 2013, but remained in the country.

Hatton Cross Tribunal Hearing Centre in west London today heard that he made an immediate asylum claim after being caught.

It took nearly two years to consider, but it was rejected on November 2 2017, and he was bailed with a regular reporting condition ahead of his deportation.

It was then that he carried out a sex attack on a young woman.

No specific details of the offence were given in the hearing which was to consider Moyna's application to be released from a detention centre on bail.

However, it was revealed that he was jailed for 10 months on January 5 this year and made to sign the sex offenders register for 10 years.

He was assessed as being at "medium risk" of reoffending.

A supporter, named as Mr Ruth in the hearing, said he was willing to put Moyna up in his family home, where he lives with his wife, three sons and two daughters.

However, Judge VMD Fox was concerned that the daughters aged 23 and 19 were of a similar age to Moyna's victim, and also that Mr Ruth had failed to tell his family about the conviction.

He said: "I take account of the fact you are a sex offender and the public protection concerns and feel the daughters are of a similar profile to your victim.

"I refuse your bail application due to your poor immigration history and the fact you have exhausted all appeal rights last year. There is no barrier to your removal.

Moyna, who appeared via a video link, sobbed as his bail was refused.

He said: "Please arrange to send me to my country as soon as possible. I am not well at all and will probably die in my cell."
