ANOTHER Albanian national suspected of being involved in major drugs trafficking in Europe has been arrested in the UK.

Lorenc Sula, 41, whose address is not known, has been arrested by Bedfordshire Police after Greece issued a European Arrest Warrant (EAW) for his arrest on suspicion of aggravated drugs trafficking.

At a hearing at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Saturday he was remanded in custody and the case was adjourned.

Nine of the fugitives are from Albania and six of them are wanted in Italy.

Sula's arrest takes the number of Albanian's caught in the UK to ten.

He is the second Albanian to be arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking who is wanted in Greece.

Avdyl Sado, 27, an Albanian from Manchester is wanted by Greece to face drug charges and has been remanded in custody ahead of the hearing.

Albanian Mafia gangs have close ties to Colombian cocaine cartels and traffic drugs across Europe and into the UK, particularly through Italy.

In late June police in Italy and Albania arrested 37 members of an organised criminal group behind international trafficking of large quantities of drugs in leisure boats.

Around 3.5 tonnes of marijuana, cocaine and hashish were seized, with an estimated street value of more than €40 million (top image).

A variety of goods and assets in Albania were also seized, with a value of over €4 million.

The investigation also spanned into France.
